The Dannon Institute is a separately incorporated, 501c3 non-profit foundation dedicated to non-commercial activities. Launched in 1997, the Dannon Institute was established as an independent foundation to promote research, education and communication about the link between nutrition and good health. The Dannon Institute in the United States is one of several Danone Institutes created worldwide by The Danone Group, the ultimate parent company of The Dannon Company, Inc.

The Board of Directors is made up of both independent experts in nutrition science and business leaders of The Dannon Company, Inc. The nutrition scientists establish program direction, determine recipients of funding and are closely involved in all Dannon Institute programs. Dannon managers offer communication support, program development and management expertise.

Members of the Scientific Council serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors. They provide insight for programs and also serve on program selection committees.

A Message from Our President

The Dannon Institute focuses its efforts on areas of nutrition that we, the Board of Directors and Scientific Council, feel need greater attention in the United States. These areas include promoting children's nutrition, especially preschool nutrition education, and fostering the success of tomorrow's leaders in the field of nutrition.

As a pediatrician, I am proud that the Dannon Institute has produced Celebrate Healthy Eating, a nutrition education program specifically designed for preschool children. These materials are all available through the Dannon Institute website. In the future, the Dannon Institute plans to develop new materials that will help pediatricians provide the parents of young children with accurate and effective information regarding physical activity, child development and nutrition.

Ultimately, it is our goal to educate families and people of all ages about the role a healthy diet plays in lifelong, overall health.
